PEPSC 2026 proposals for special sessions should be within the technical scope of the conference. Special sessions supplement the regular program of the conference and provide a sample of state-of-the-art research in academia and industry on special, novel, challenging, and emerging topics. Special session proposals should be submitted by the prospective organizer(s) who will commit to promoting and handling the review process of the special session as Chair or Co-Chair of the event. One special session lasts 2 hours, which allows 6–10 oral presenters. If the number of presenters is beyond the capacity, parts of them will be arranged for poster sessions. Accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceeding and submitted to related databases.
Approved Special Sessions
Special Session I: Advanced Operations and Control for Inverter-Dominated Power Grids

Mohamed A. H. El-Sayed, Cairo University, Egypt |
Energy transition and sustainability can be achieved by increasing the proportion of Renewable Energy in power systems to limit climate change and mitigate global warming. Integrating renewable energy into the grid through power electronic-based devices requires solving the challenge of intermittency, Network Inadequacy, low inertia, inadequate transmission infrastructure. The possible solutions of these challenges include Grid-Scale Energy Storage, Smart Grid technology, Advanced Inverters, network expansion and computational techniques to support energy management and ensure grid stability.
Related Topics:
1) Designing power electronics converter for smart microgrid
2) Grid forming inverter for renewable energy integration
3) Optimal operation of smart microgrid
4) Artificial intelligence application on power converters and battery storage systems
5) Coordinated control of multiple converters in hybrid renewable energy system

This special session addresses state-of-the-art research in battery energy storage systems (BESS), with emphasis on modelling, control, estimation, and optimisation for modern power and energy applications. As renewable energy integration deepens and electrified transport systems expand, robust and intelligent battery management systems (BMS) have become central to ensuring safety, reliability, and operational longevity. The session invites contributions spanning the full spectrum of battery system research, from physics-based and equivalent circuit modelling (ECM) to data-driven and machine learning approaches for diagnostics and prognostics. Particular focus is placed on real-time state estimation (SoC, SoH, SoP), parameter identification, and advanced control strategies for integrated energy systems including microgrids and electrified transport platforms (EVs, more-electric aircraft, and marine systems). Contributions bridging embedded implementation, power electronics interfacing, and degradation-aware control are especially encouraged. This session aims to unite researchers and industry practitioners to share recent advances and chart future directions in intelligent, sustainable energy storage technology.
Related Topics:
1) Battery modelling-equivalent circuit, electrochemical, and hybrid model approaches
2) State estimation: SoC, SoH, SoP, and online parameter identification
3) Battery management systems (BMS), design, architecture, and safety
